Reflection:

This is an interesting book called ”Dork diaries” about tales from a NOT-SO-Fabulous Life. The author is Rachel Renee Russell. The main idea is about heroine Nikki described her new life after entering a star high school with humour and self-mockery. Even though she tried to involve the new school life but always unlucky. After she experienced hardships and many dramatic events she got happy ending from these green young days with tears and laugh. By figure the humour of sentences, conversation in the story could able to realise USA teenagers’ pop culture.

Adolescence is an important transform of life. From this story about Nikki. I learned everyone is unique. Be yourself with brave heart is most important. Needn’t to follow others’ opinions in blind. Therefore you could get your own way.

I would like to recommend this book for those who are not good in English but want to improve English ability because this one is a humorous story for teenager full of abundant useful spoken language, vocabularies, phrases, and USA acronyms like CCP, BFF(it means best frenid forever) but also cute font, illustration and vocabulary footnote in pages thus very easy for reading and improve fun in learning language. To read an English novel is a good and natural method in English learning and most important chooses an interesting story for you.

From this book I learned how to read novels.
1. Scan whole book and try to realise what is the main idea and do not look up a dictionary.
2. peruse and look up the dictionary or translation.
3. read again and have fun.

Please follow the following steps when reading.

let’s enjoy the reading novels togerther.

Welcome on board!!!

Dear members,

Welcome to Reading Enrichment Program!

It’s my great pleasure to help you explore and enjoy the journey of reading. As an English learner and instructor, reading has made tremendous impacts on my English competence and teaching career. A great number of researches have shown that reading, as a personal habit and learning process, not only strengthens students’ English ability of everyday communications and exam results but also expands their horizons. Through reading the English graded readers of this program, you’ll pick up authentic English expressions and learn more about cultures around the world.

No one can read every single book that has ever published. Thus, this blog serves as a platform for all of you to exchange ideas, express reading reflections and help each other to explore more possiblities of other graded readers, novels and stories of life. From others’ reading experiences, you’ll learn a lot—including useful English expressions, knowledge of various professions, classic masterpieces of the English literature, and more importantly, cultures from different eras, perspectives and countries.

Below, I’m pasting the guidelines for posting reflections on this blog. Please feel freeto contact me if you have any questions by e-mailing me ateffieyu@mail.mcu.edu.tw. I look forward to reading your posts and accompanying you on this learning journey.

Sincerely,
Effie Wang
